Unquestionably, 2020 has been a year like no other, however we at SAF are thrilled to announce a very positive change we've recently made within our business. Our former Operations Director, Jane Tabiner, has officially been promoted to Managing Director, just as she celebrates ten years with the company.

From starting as a temp and learning every aspect of the business from the ground-up, it’s been a decade-long learning journey for Jane, culminating in her taking up this key position at such an exciting time for SAF.

To celebrate Jane’s promotion and 10th work anniversary, we sat down with her to discuss how it feels to be one of SAF’s longest-serving employees and her vision for the future as the business gets set to embark on a new chapter.

What are some of the key things you’ve learned over the last decade?

Having started as a temp in the early days of SAF, I have completed a wide variety of roles for the company, covering everything from logging invoices and payments, to recruitment and most recently, operations management.

It’s safe to say I’ve been exposed to pretty much every aspect of our business, and it’s resulted in a fantastic understanding of how best to run an SME business and, perhaps more importantly, how vital it is to have the right team around you. For a business to grow and flourish, it’s essential to work alongside knowledgeable team players and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with many fantastic people. We’ve shared knowledge and best practice, and grown SAF together.

What three words would you use to summarise the past ten years at SAF?

Rewarding, challenging and innovative.

What has been your best SAF memory?

There have been so many wonderful memories over the last decade, but I’d have to say that working with such a talented, close-knit team has been my highlight. Our team has grown by more than 150 per cent since I started and we have a very low staff turnover, which we are incredibly proud of.

We’ve celebrated successful deals, forged great client relationships and taken part in wellness activities that have brought all the staff together. We get on brilliantly as a team, not only making SAF a great place to work but also ensuring our team nights out are great too. We’ve really missed them in 2020, here’s hoping for more chances to socialise in person in 2021!

What is your proudest achievement?

There have been so many special moments over the years, but for me, my promotion to Managing Director has to be my proudest, especially since it was so aptly timed alongside my 10-year anniversary. It really is the icing on the cake for what has been an amazing decade of work.

Moving forward, what are your immediate plans for the business?

For me, SAF is always evolving, which means we don’t spend too much time looking back at our accomplishments, regardless of how fantastic they are – instead, we remain focused on the future and where we want to take our business next.

To ensure the business continues moving forward on this positive trajectory we’ve witnessed year-on-year, we will remain focused and committed to internal training and development. We have lots of up and coming talent in the business, so it’s essential that our experienced team members share their expertise and skills with the younger generation. At SAF, we’re fully committed to all of our employees, so we’ll be continuing to provide more training and development opportunities for our people to grow alongside our business.

Alongside Jane’s promotion, former SAF Managing Director, Steve Bowers, has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer and we’d like to say a huge congratulations to Steve who remains committed to the ongoing growth of the business.

It’s certainly an exciting time for the business and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.
