Andy James has spent just over a year working closely with the team at SAF. Initially tasked with helping to expand funding lines across new and existing market sectors, the brief has since expanded to include wider business development and there are now a number of exciting initiatives which are set to kick start 2020.
On his time at SAF Andy said: "Having left a leading healthcare funder in late 2018 I really didn't intend to get back into the sector so quickly, however, when my friends at SAF invited me to spend time getting to know the team in Ellesmere Port it seemed a great opportunity and I haven't looked back since. From day one I have been impressed with the experience and depth of knowledge within the team and the level of support they provide to their supplier partners is second to none.
I was initially asked to review funding lines and seek new partnerships where appropriate. The strategy at SAF has always been to only work with a very small number of funders in order that strong and mutually beneficial relationships can be developed and maintained. Having come from a funding environment this is something I strongly embrace, however, as SAF's business has expanded, it was clear there was a need to also seek new partners. This is an ongoing process, but it is progressing well, and we are very satisfied with the direction of travel.
Over the past six months my remit has expanded to include a wider review of the Retained Division. This is the side of the SAF business that works closely with suppliers and provide "point of sale" finance. It has always been a core part of the SAF business, and I have very much enjoyed working with the team to look for ways we can expand our offering while also delivering an even better experience for the supplier and the customer.
In addition to these roles, earlier this year I have the opportunity to arrange the re-finance of a £20m asset backed loan transaction for one of my previous clients. This was a real highlight of the year and something I was please to do on a joint basis with SAF. The business is a world-leading provider of cancer treatment and it is incredibly rewarding to play a small part in the continued growth and development of such an exciting organisation."
Andy has had an exciting and interesting initial twelve months working with the SAF team and looks forward to continuing the relationship into 2020.
