In September SAF's Head of Aviation, Paul Walsingham will be cycling from London to Barcelona for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Paul will be completing the ride with a group of friends to mark the 10th anniversary of their original triumph.
The Teenage Cancer Trust is an organisation with 28 years' experience learning what it's like to be a young person with cancer and the unique emotional, physical and practical needs that come with a diagnosis. The Trust has a fantastic team of staff and volunteers who have transformed the lives of thousands but are also inspired daily by the young people who are treated in their units and outreach services. As well as their network of care and support services in hospital units and via hospitals and homes across the UK their work has also grown to include:
- Nationwide education programme to raise awareness of cancer and empower young people to take responsibility for their own health.
- Find your sense of tumour, an annual conference for young people with cancer
- The biennial International Conference on Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Medicine for teenage and young adult cancer specialists
- A funding programme for research and the further education of health professionals
The cycle is 950 miles in total that is completed over 10 days. Paul and his team will be starting the challenge in September.
